[2015 Food] Fresh Legend (Ice Restaurant)

My friends invited me to go to eat one of my favourite food item - Shaved ice.

Taro ball series #3 with red beans, taro balls, pearls, and peanuts

grass jelly series signature with grass jelly, vanilla ice cream, taro ball, and taro.

As a Taiwanese, I honestly cannot resist ANY icy foods. Ice cream, shaved ice, slushes, etc.
I'm not lying when I say Taiwan has some of the best icy food products in the world!
This dessert place was where I went last night for my delicious shaved ice.
If you can't eat ice or don't like icy foods, you can choose the hot version (red bean soup with all these good toppings).

Recommended - Good on all aspects. Add to my favourites

I didn't expect much though, from a Canadian place. This place, surprised me. The toppings are made well and taste quite good. Taro is especially delicious. The only 2 reasons people would dislike the things is if

1. they order the hot version - which my bestie found to be too sweet. I feel like they could just add in options for people to order half sweet version.
2. they can add condensed milk or some sort of syrup on the iced version. - Because they don't make their toppings to be super sweet. If we can have some syrup on the side for us to add ourselves (like IHOP), that'd be wonderful.

Taro is delicious, I highly recommend choosing one with it as topping. Grass jelly is flawless (one of my favourite topping of all time, they did well). The taro jelly balls are decent. I've had better ones in Taiwan, but this is pretty good for ones made in Canada.  Other toppings taste as good as they should be. I honestly have no complaints for any of these. Except with the amount of ice, it'd be nice to have some syrup (like I mentioned in point 2 above).

We decided to go to this place, because there's a groupon deal lol
Usually one bowl of this would be $6.5-7.5 and a cup of the winter melon tea would be $3.5
Now, with the groupon, two bowls + two cups of winter melon tea = $9.9... (now I sound like a salesperson) God. Great deal. and there's no limit per table. 4 people can use 2 groupons in one go. 6 of us went and used 3 groupons, no problem. This pricing is quite reasonable (actually, great, cheap, worth it).

I know winter melon tea sounds gross, but it's honestly my favourite tea! It doesn't really taste like tea persay .... it actually taste like sugar water/syrup LOL because it's so sweet in nature. Honestly, people dilute them so much when they sell them- but for most people, that is just about right in sweetness. Try it! I don't like the lemon version... it's just awkward. Grass jelly with it is delish, don't bother with the other one lol.

This place, even on original pricing, is still worth a visit. It's a nice late night gathering dessert place.
Not too quiet or noisy, relatively well connected by transit. I gotta go and get more friends to go with me again :D

Thanks, Fresh Legend. I got to eat the good Taiwanese style shaved ice before summer officially ends. When winter starts, I will go for their hot versions. ;)

Bye Bye~ ★
