[2015 Food] Mega Sushi

As you know, I am now doing my rotation in Steveston, Richmond. My friend recommended this place, so I decided to try it out.

Mega Sushi Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Taste ★★★★☆
 Portion ★★★☆☆
 Service ★★★☆☆
 Cost $$
Recommended - For its creative special rolls and Mega Tower. A bit on the pricy side with minimal service (busy).

Make reservation! This place is very busy at dinner hours.

I got there at around 6:15 and the restaurant is full throughout until around almost 8pm. That's on a Wednesday night.
I ordered a Caesar to drink

when I was waiting for my friends. It tasted quite decent. Nothing magical, but a decent Caesar drink. No fancy decoration, just a piece of celery and lime.

The specialty rolls here are truly creative (ish) and all plates are nicely decorated.
The must have is : Mega tower.

It's really just rice with veggies and sashimi (salmon and tuna) topped with specially made Japanese salad sauce. (Really, it's a fancy looking chiraishi don). It tastes good. Very good. The sweet and sour tasting sauce goes great with the veggies, flavoured rice and raw fish. Mix it to get the full taste ;)

Tank roll is the big normal looking roll with fish eggs on top. Rolled with salmon, tuna, avocado, and prawn. Too normal. I wouldn't order this here.
The Godzilla bite looks awesome, but the taste, maybe it's that fried seaweed at the bottom and the insufficient/not-perfectly-matching sauce, the whole thing is great if you only have one piece. More than two it gets a bit too fat tasting (? I don't know how to describe this exactly). If the sauce is more spicy, and sour with sweetness, it would be perfect.

Overall, I like this place. Decent service, OK portion, nice looking and tasting food. Great place for a casual date or friend gathering! A bit pricier than most of the other Japanese food places - but it's the standard in Steveston village.

Will post more of my other food adventures soon!

Bye Bye~ ★
